Byron Bay Information

Byron Bay is a town with about 6,000 residents and throughout the year the town has major influxes in visitors particularly during school holidays or end of year celebrations.

The town is very popular for tourists in particular surfing. Surfers from all over the world come to Byron Bay to enjoy the perfect pipeline waves. Even if you donít surf you will definitely enjoy watching the professional surfers.

Fantastic temperature and tropical waters provide the perfect snorkeling and scuba diving activities. Julian Rocks is part of Cape Byron National Park and is one of the best places for the experience.

If you prefer boating experience then whale watching is another popular activity in Byron Bay. Best time for whale watching is June to November.

Adrenalin action sports are very popular at Byron, especially skydiving, hang gliding helicopter flights and ballooning. Seeing Byron Bay from the above is a not to miss experience. Dreamworld is also located at Byron Bay, which has a fantastic rollercoaster.

There are hundreds of activities and things to do. To mention a few you could go Kayaking, golfing, fishing, bowling, sight seeing, Aboriginal culture tours, eco charters, nature walks and even yogalates.

Byron Bay also offers many regular markets such as the farmers market at butler reserve every Thursday, the craft market on the first Sunday of each month and the artesian market every Saturday evenings at Railway.

There are also plenty of events happening all year round. The most popular are the East Coast Blues and Roots Music Festival, in Easter, Splendor in the grass along with the Byron Bay film festival and underwater festival.
