Gosford Information

Gosford is a large city of New South Wales with a population of about 160,000. Before European settlement the Guringai and Darkinjung Aboriginal people occupied Gosford.

As Gosford is located between Sydney and Newcastle, tens of thousands of tourists flock to Gosford throughout the year. The region is perfect for holidaymaking as it offers city, seaside and rural lifestyle all intertwined into one.

There are many historical places in Gosford as it has been occupied since the 1800ís. It is also located along the Hawkesbury River estuary so fun activities like canoeing on the river, waterskiing and fishing can be enjoyed.

Being such a large place means you will find ample shopping places in the commercial district. William Street mall and the Imperial shopping centre are the hot spots and well worth a visit to buy your holiday souvenirs.

The Australian Reptile Park in Gosford is a great place to visit and see native wildlife. You can see many varieties of Australian kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and other truly Australian animals.

More nature can be found at Bouddi National Park. The Park has forests and cliffs along the pristine beautiful beaches. There is some fantastic fishing spots however some areas are protected so make sure you check with locals where the best places are.

Wildflowers at Popran National Park and the Romantic Gosford Edogawa Commemorative Gardens are well worth a visit too. Be enthralled with the wonderful scenery in a Japanese styled gardens.

Art enthusiasts will enjoy the Gosford Regional Art Gallery, located on the shores of Caroline Bay in East Gosford. The gallery always has different exhibitions happening from time to time and the gallery shop is popular for jewellery and locally made gifts.
