Katoomba is the primary town set in the magnificent Blue Mountains in New South Wales. It is very well known for its spectacular views and nature walks. Many tourists visit the Blue Mountains each year as it is the must see place if you love scenery and eco adventure.

Katoomba was established in 1879 and has many historical buildings to discover. One such example in town is the Balmoral which is renowned for being the oldest guest house.

The ticket hot spot to visit is Echo Point Lookout. Here you can see the Three Sisters which is a famous rock formation created by erosion of a period of thousands of years. Eventually the Three Sisters will be eroded away completely, so come down and see it now.

Other great lookouts to explore in the area include Gordon Falls, Sublime Point, Kiah, Eagle Hawk and the Leura Cascades which contains Leura Falls. The best and most famous waterfall in the region however is Katoomba Falls.

Another wonderful experience is the bushwalking trail which leads to “The Giant Stairway” of 800 stone and steel steps. Definitely excellent exercise while being eco friendly taking in the picturesque view.

Katoomba is also very popular for the Katoomba Scenic Skyway. This cable driven vehicle will provide the most spectacular views and will also provide a bit of an adrenalin rush. It is renowned as the steepest incline cable vehicle at 52 degrees. Originally constructed for coal mining operations it has been converted to today becoming world famous.
