Brisbane Information

Brisbane, situated on the Brisbane River is the largest city and capital of Queensland with a population of nearly 2 million people. Brisbane is the third most popular destination for international tourists in Australia.

Brisbane being near the Great Dividing Range is actually a hilly urban city. Other summits nearby are Mount Coottha, Toohey Montain, Mount Petrie, Mount Ommaney, Stephens Mountain and Mount Garvatt.

The climate of Brisbane is humid subtropical with hot, humid summers and dry, mild winters.

Nature lovers can visit an array of parklands such as South Bank, Roma Street, Brisbane Forest, City Botanic Gardens, Portside Wharf and the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, the world’s first ever Koala sanctuary.

A must do activity for adventure enthusiasts is to go rock climbing at Kangaroo Point Cliffs just Across the Brisbane River. These cliffs are not natural but were made by female prisoners while they mined volcanic rock.
