Tannum Sands Information

Tannum Sands is a coastal town just a few kilometres southeast of Gladstone lying on the Boyne River. Tannum Sands is a great holiday town and well known for excellent fishing with access to the Barrier Reef, fishing on the Boyne River and the nearby Lake Awoonga. Every year on the Queens Birthday the area features the Boyne Tannum Hookup fishing Competition.

The beach lifestyle in Tannum Sands is impeccable with pristine long sandy stretches and beautiful waters. Many tourists and travellers enjoy popular beach activities like kiteboarding, sailing, boating, snorkelling and swimming. The beaches are particularly wonderful at dawn and dusk for a magical beachside stroll.

Recently there have been many developments in the Tannum Sands area with major projects and developments getting the go ahead including the Boyne Tannum Country Club Estate which has a new championship 18 hole Golf Course that makes full use of the Boyne River.

Bird and nature lovers will also appreciate the areas many conservations parks and bushwalking trails. The best ones not to miss include the Wild Cattle Island National Park and the nearby Boyne Island Conservation Reserve.

With Gladstone just a short drive 10 kilometres away, Tannum Sands provides the perfect tranquillity of beach lifestyle with easy access to Gladstone which as plenty of shopping, museums, art galleries and holiday entertainment not too far away.

Tannum Sands is also a place for great sporting activities with easy access for tennis or squash courts, gymnasium, swimming pool, and even rockclimbing at the Tannum Sands Squash Centre.

Kiteboarding is one of the fastest growing sports in Tannum Sands and the annual Coconet Classic now held every year at Tannum Sands.
