Esperance Information

Esperance is one of Western Australia's natural gems - enjoyed by families and nature-lovers for it's unspoilt coastline, stunningly white beaches, ruggard parks and marine adventures.

ABOUT ESPERANCE

Esperance is an eight to nine-hour drive south east from Perth, depending on the route you take. Alternatively, it’s also serviced by daily flights, which take just over an hour - making it very accessible. Near the town itself are many attractive beaches, offering surfing, scuba diving, and swimming.

Also nearby are a number of salt lakes, including the Pink Lake, which gains its rosey hue from red algae living within its waters. There are five major national parks near the town. A major nearby tourist attraction, 56 km from the town center, is the Cape Le Grand National Park, which offers a picturesque coast of largely granite terrain and sheltered white sand beaches. The park is a popular spot for recreational fishing, as well as four wheel drive enthusiasts and hikers.

French explorers are credited with making the first landfall near the present day town, naming it Esperance, whilst sheltering from a storm in this area in 1792. The town itself was named after the French ship, the L’Espérance, Esperance, roughly translated, is French for ‘hope’. The French explorer’s ship took cover from the harsh sea, in what is today known as the popular Esperance tourist destination of ‘lucky bay’.

There are many exciting things to do and see in Esperance. Whether you are a fishing nutter or a nature enthusiast, Esperance offers all. Located in the Southern part of Western Australia it is a great place to travel to when the hottest part of summer kicks in as the temperature is slightly colder than Perth.

There is also a place called Mermaid leather which has been made famous by producing goods such as wallets made form fish and shark skins.

Esperance tourist attractions are brought to you by World Holiday Destinations. Book your Esperance Accommodation.
