Belo Horizonte Information

Belo Horizonte is a very large city in Brazil with over two and a half million people first founded and settled in the 1700’s. The city is completely surrounded by mountains and has a tropical climate with perfect holiday weather all year round with the average temperature being 27 degrees celsius and not varying more than 3 degrees throughout the year. Belo Horizonte is also nicknamed very shot by the local for just BH.

One of the most popular and visited places in Belo Horizonte is the neighbourhood of Pampulha. Featuring modern architecture, Pampulha contains some of Brazils most modern buildings as well as the famous São Francisco de Assis Church the most visited church by tourists and travellers.

For museums there are plenty sprawled throughout the city. The most frequently visited include Museu Histórico Abílio Barreto (History museum), the Praça Rui Barbosa (Museum of Arts and Crafts) and the Museu de Ciencias Naturais (Nature museum).

Belo Horizonte also contains some fantastic holiday shopping places with some of the best being the BH shopping centre, Mindas shopping centre, Diamond Mall, Patio Savassi for upmarket merchandise and the Hippie Fair one of the biggest and most visited as it attracts over 100 thousand people every Sunday.

For musical culture there are many traditional bands to the city of Belo Horizonte including the Uaki the most famous for using custom made instruments. The Brazilian name of Uakti dates back to the mythological name of the Rio Negro being the name of the original site for the Brazilian music world famous today.

For one of the best views of the city, the best place to go is the Alta Vila Tower located in the Nova Lima district. Not only offering spectacular view of the city for the holiday pictures, the tower also features the Hard Rock Café perfect for a relaxing lunch after taking in the wonderful spectacular views.
