There are many sights to see in Naples as the city is full of history and culture with some of the best castles found in Italy. One such famous castle is the Castel dell’Ovo (The Egg Castle) on the gulf of Naples. The Castle gets its name as from a medieval tale that a sorcerer put a magical egg in the foundations of the structure.

Another attraction to Naples is the Piazza del Plebiscito in the main city square. Created in 1860 it was a tribute to Napoleon and it a very popular tourist site to see. The Piazza also has the Teatro di San Carlo (Opera House) nearby which is the oldest known opera theatre on the Italian peninsula.

For History the Museo di Capodimonte is a must see place to visit being the prime museum in Naples containing the history and decorative artworks of the Napoleon era. There are also several Roman sculptures and antiquities contained in the Museum along with great artworks from the famous Raphael.

Naples is a very important city to the Catholicism. There are nearly a hundred churches are spread throughout the city. One of the most visited churches is the Cathedral of Naples that sees thousands of Catholics flock every year in September for the Miracle of Saint Januarius the city’s saint.

Music has always played a big role in the culture of Naples. A Neapolitan resident named Gaetano Vinaccia created the earliest six-string guitar back in 1779. The Canzone Napoletana style of music is also the traditional music of Naples.
