Los Angeles, California

Situated in the State of California, the City of Los Angeles or L.A. is often nicknamed the City of Angels and is the second largest city in the United States. Tourist travel to Los Angeles to visit several attractions including its crown jewel district of Hollywood and the city of Beverly Hills contained within its borders.

LA is a very culturally diverse in nationalities and was once even part of Mexico between 1821-48. Economically Los Angeles is the third richest city in the world with a GDP of nearly US $800 billion. It is not just the film and gaming industry driving the economy but plenty of others like fashion, petroleum, technology, manufacturing and aerospace. The California Science Center in Los Angeles is a hot tourist attraction as it houses the famous Endeavour Space Shuttle attracting millions of visitors every year.

With so many great things to see and do in Los Angeles it makes it hard not to miss anything. The Getty Centre, Nethercutt, Natural History, Petersen Automotive and the Grammy Museums are a few worth mentioning along with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art with its thousands of artworks could keep you preoccupied almost an entire day.

For theatres and performances the best places include the Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Greek Theatre, The Magic Castle, Hollywood Bowl, Pentages Theatre or watching live the CBS Late show. Those more interested in performances of a sporting kind may want to watch the Los Angeles Dodgers or Los Angeles Lakers play at their home ground the Dodger Stadium and the Staples Center.

Of course a trip to Los Angeles is not complete without a tour of Hollywood Studios or a tour of the City of Beverly Hills. For fun and action theme parks, Six flags Magic Mountain, Disneyland California, Raging Waters and Santa Monica Pier are some of the hottest attractions in Los Angeles and close by.

The best panoramic views over the Los Angeles are at Griffith Park in the Santa Monica Mountains. The park also contains the Griffith Observatory that is popular with tourists for its space and science related displays.
